STRATHFIELD has a new residential price record after an eight bedroom mansion was snapped up for a whopping $7.3m at auction today- more than three times the suburbs average sale price.
The English style manor drew a crowd of more than 70, with five of the 12 registered bidders fighting it out to own the home.
The sale eclipsed the existing price record for the popular inner west burb, which had previously been held by a seven bedroom home at 47 Newton Rd, which sold for $6.825m in May this year.
Bidding started at just $6.2m but quickly escalated with bidders placing bold bids of $100,000 each.
It slowed down towards the end with bids of just $5000 each as two parties entered into a bidding war.
